Chamfering is a very important operation in order to obtain a good quality gear. The teeth of the gears must be correctly chamfered in order to avoid nicks, which would make the gear noisy and unusable. Chamfering of gear teeth flanks is executed with particular chamfering and deburring machines using special tools which are able to chamfer both flanks at the simultaneously and which produce chamfers of constant size on each tooth and flank. At the same time these chamfering and deburring machines - which can be manual, semiautomatic or automatic - remove the burr generated by gear cutting operation. The chamfering tools patented by samputensili spa, italy, are easy to use and have a very high efficiency since, in some applications, they can perform hundreds of thousands of pieces before being resharpened. Resharpening of the chamfering tools of this company does not require special machines. The machines have a great flexibility since they can work single gears [with bore] or shafts.
